The Square
Behind the Bay Horse Hotel were stables, now demolished, over which
was a room used by the Junior Imperial League, an early youth club,
and later by the Boys' Brigade as their Headquarters. In the late 40's
and early 50's it housed a glassworks called `Venetian Lights' owned
by Mr Alexander. Pink and amber glass shades made in Barnsley had
copper welding and electrical works fitted there. The stables were
pulled down in the mid‑1950's. The Bay Horse closed in the early
1970's and is now a private residence. At the side of the Bay Horse in
the 1920's was a fruit and vegetable shop owned by Mr Woodruffe.

Bramham Carnival
Organised by All Saints' Parish Church Social Committee. It held the carnival for at least 5
years in the 1970's, every year it rained more than the previous year. I think we may
have had 1 good year. All the village organisations were invited to have a
stall. |
