Memorial Stone to
the Duke of Northumberland
This stone was moved by a farmer to the edge of Pear Tree field and then
again to Black Wood where it now stands. The picture shows the Chambers
brothers looking at the remains of the stone on the edge of Pear Tree field
before it was moved on the orders of Major Lipscombe, the Bramham Park
Estate Manager. A plaque erected to denote its significance has
unfortunately been desecrated by vandals and nowadays is difficult to find
or decipher.
