Section 8 - D Wetherby Road, Almshouse, Bowcliffe, Aberford Road

Description of 8-D The Bay Horse

1. For 250 years one of the principal hostelries on the Great North Road in Bramham, the Bay Horse closed at the beginning of the 1970s when the A1 bypassed the village. A photo of the southern end of the building shows also in the distance the house that was built on the site of the old girl guide 'hut'.

2. A newspaper article of February 1968 announcing a police application for the licence to be made redundant thus precipitating the closure of the inn. The article goes on to recount some of its history.
